SPECS
It’s .35 inches thin and weighs 1.25 pounds. It has an Android operating system but can’t access most of Android apps. Its CPU brand is TI and CPU family is OMAP 4 running at 1.5GHz with the RAM size of 1GB.STORAGE
It has more storage than before. You can choose from 32GB or the cheaper 16GB.DISPLAY
Fire HD has high resolution screen. It has 1920 x 1200p, 254 ppi. The display is more vivid than its other siblings. Screen size is 8.9 inches and this tablet is not made for one-hand operation. The screen has 25 percent less glare.CAMERA
There is a 720p front-facing camera but no rear camera. Nonetheless, Fire HD really stepped up further from former Kindles with no cameras. The video is not that sharp but it can do a smooth Skype video call.AUDIO
Kindle Fire HD 8.9 4G really stepped up its audio from its predecessors. It has Dolby Digital technology and has kick in it now. Like Kindle’s traditional devices, the speakers are on the back. They are placed in a way that suggests a landscape use.4G LTE
4G version will have super-fast cellular connection but with a whopping cost of 499 bucks. This is idiosyncrasy for this line of gadgets that’s recognized for low cost tablets. Furthermore, download is limited to 50MB only.MAGAZINES AND NEWPAPERS
Amazon offers more or less 400 magazines. This includes influential ones like National Geographic, Time Magazine, People Magazine, Reader’s Digest, Sports Illustrated, Cosmopolitan, US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, OK!, In Style, etc. For newspapers, they also have wide range of leading papers in their database such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fox News, NBC, News, USA Today, ABC News, Yahoo, The International Herald Tribune, BBC News, MTV News, etc.MOVIES AND TV SHOWS
Amazon has over 150000 movies and TV show episodes but Netflix has more. The world doesn't end there yet; installing Netflix app can get Kindle access into its movie and TV series database and taking advantage of the HD screen display.APPS
Fire HD has the absence of valuable Google apps. Nevertheless, they have a number of apps that can suffice. This is logical since Amazon is doing business and they want the clients to buy content from them. Another big setback is the lack of notification for received mail.MULTITASKING
Kindle is not ready for multitasking yet. It lags when doing more than one operation.PARENTAL CONTROLS
The consumer of this tablet must be parents. They will be grateful for the integrated parental controls for safe browsing and reading for their kids.PORTS
On the right side is a headphone jack, volume rocker and power button. On the bottom is a micro HDMI port and micro USB port.BATTERY LIFE
Amazon announced that Kindle Fire HD 8.9 lasts for 10 hours. But there was an experiment that said otherwise. It had LTE disabled to give HD 8.9 a fighting chance against HD 7 without LTE. The same looped videos were played and the same brightness on the displays were set. The test resulted 9 hours and 57 minutes on Fire HD 7. While Fire HD 8.9 lasted shorter, given that the screen is larger --it lasted 9 hours and one minute only.PRICE
The 32GB Kindle HD 8.9 4G costs $499 and an additional 100 bucks for the 64GB version. This guest post is brought to you by Martin Nodskov of Frompo.com, a site that offers savings and current information on engines search .
