Both BlackBerry and Sony are expecting some great with their latest smartphones BlackBerry Z10 and Sony Xperia Z. The BlackBerry Z10 is here with a new BlackBerry OS and Sony claims the Xperia Z to be its best smartphone. Read our full comparison review to know more about these devices.
Build and Design
The glass front of the Sony Xperia Z looks clean, and the rear cover looks like that of an iPhone. BlackBerry Z10 has no physical buttons or keys for navigation and at the top and bottom of the display there are metallic panels. At 9.2mm the BlackBerry Z10 is pretty slim and also light at 135g. The Xperia Z is comparatively thinner and bigger at 7.9mm and 145g. Additionally, the Xperia Z is water- and dustproof. Both of these phones have powerful specifications, and both are excellent in terms of performance.
Display
Screens of both the Xperia Z and Z10 are amazing. Comparatively the Xperia Z has got the bigger and better screen. The 5-inch display of the Xperia Z comes with the pixel density of 441ppi and resolution of 1080p. On the other hand, the 4.2-inch screen of the BlackBerry Z10 has the screen resolution of 768x1280 and pixel density of 355ppi.

The Xperia Z runs on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and an update to Android 4.2 will be available soon according to the Sony. The BlackBerry comes loaded with the new BlackBerry 10 OS. Both of these OS are stylish and slick, but with Android customers get to enjoy a wide range of media and apps. However, the BlackBerry can be a good choice for business use.
Storage and Connectivity
Both of these phones come with just 16GB versions, and they both feature a microSD card slot. The connectivity features of the Xperia Z include NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 4G. Alongside the headphone ports and microUSB on the left hand side of the device, there are 2 metal contacts to be used for a docking station. The BlackBerry Z10 also features a headphone port and microUSB slot, and a Micro HDMI port. It is also not short on connectivity, including NFC, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band Wi-Fi and 4G.

Camera
Sony has used its own Exmor RS sensor on the 13MP rear-facing camera of Xperia Z. Like the rear camera, the 2MP front-facing camera also can record full HD video of 1080p quality. Meanwhile, the Z10’s 8MP rear-facing camera comes with an LED flash. It is also capable to taking Full HD video of 1080p quality.
Battery
A powerful battery of 2370mAh has been used on the Xperia Z. Sony claims that the Xperia Z can offer 4 times more battery life with is new feature called Battery Stamina Mode. Comparatively the Z10 comes with a less powerful battery of 1800mAh (6.7Wh). The Xperia Z easily lasted for a day and more, and the Z10 offered the battery life of no more than a day.
Bottom Line
Undoubtedly both of these are great smartphones. Each offers access to movies, music, games, apps, web, email and many more. They are beautifully built and fast performers. The BlackBerry Z10 is a perfect phone for business use, but the Xperia Z comes with a better camera, a better display and a whole lot of new apps and media.
